The pseudonym I. M. Bonetti amused the author, and, as he sports a rather pedestrian name (shared with more than two dozen celebrities on Wikipedia, including multiple other authors), was chosen to provide a distinguishable (but not necessarily distinguished) author brand. He also considers the name fitting, considering the rocky terrain of indie publishing.
He lives in southern California with his wife, assorted additional stray family members, and enough books to start a small used bookstore.
If you are unfortunate enough to meet him, he prefers the name “Mike” and the pronouns he/him.
