See, Anvils smash Donuts pretty effectively.
No, that’s not what I’m talking about.
This is what I’m talking about:
That’s a 3D rendered donut (yay, blender!), done by me. I followed this tutorial by Blender Guru and learned a lot along the way. If you’ve ever wanted to dip your toes in 3D, this is a good start.
And then I followed up with the intermediate modeling tutorial and made this anvil:
I’m working on something, and these are a fast way to get up to speed with the basics. It’s been a learning experience, and a lot of fun. If you’ve got the hardware to try it out, and you’ve been curious, this is a good way to experiment.
In other news, writing continues. I’ve got a vague notion for NaNoWriMo this coming November, but I’m still undecided on what projects to do for Camp in April and July. (Last year, I had a plan nailed down in January, and stuck to it for all three NaNoWriMo events. However, the rest of the year went off the rails, so I’m not even close to where I expected to be. I’m still picking up the pieces of wreckage of my plans.
January, sadly, was not productive, but I did enjoy the experimentation while getting my priorities sorted.
Here’s the donut final scene (animated):
I also watched the lazy tutorials, which are pretty funny even for the non-3D person. (I almost had moths following the donut in!) The banners and ducks tutorials were especially enlightening. I had fun playing with the waves modifier, and with wind and cloth dynamics. Then wandered off into volumetric experimentation, and did this quick little ocean modifier + volume render:
It’s an experiment, practice for something I hope I’ll eventually need.
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Happy February!
